Francisco Javier fue uno de los primeros compañeros de San Ignacio de Loyola. Forma parte del grupo fundacional de la Compañía de Jesús. Viajó para convertir a la fe de Cristo a los países del oriente. La India, las Islas Molucas, y llegó al Japón, fue el primer misionero católico en este país. Era un hombre de profunda santidad y una vez resucitó a un muerto en la isla de Comorín, escena que reproduce este cuadro.

Francis Xavier was one of the first companions of St. Ignatius of Loyola. He is part of the founding group of the Society of Jesus. He traveled to convert the countries of the East (India, the Moluccas, and Japan) to the faith of Christ. He was the first Catholic missionary in these countries. He was a man of profound holiness and once he raised a dead man on the island of Comorín, a scene that is reproduced in this painting.
